If you’re new to LIICT, there are several questions you may ask. We’ve listed the common ones below. If you don’t find your question answered here, then send us an email!

Do we drive ourselves?
Yes. Each attendee will drive themselves. We highly recommend carpooling with friends and family. This also helps split up the driving between people. You’ll be behind the wheel for over two hours on each tour.

Is there a lot of walking?
No. Depending on the location, most of the walking will be 1-2 blocks from your parking spot to the ice cream shop. At one stop on the tour we will walk to a park or open space to take a group photo. We do recommend wearing sunscreen since we will often be standing/sitting outside while eating ice cream.

Is the tour free?
No. We started the tour in 2011 by funding it ourselves. Over the years it has consumed more of our time and resources, so we’ve setup an exclusive package for people who register for the tour. Check here for this year’s deals.

Why should I sign up for your tour?
Our team has spent years going to each of these locations, talking with the owners/operators, and setting up a unique experience for the tour group. You’re going to get exclusive discounts at virtually every location and a special tour t-shirt. You’re also going to spend time with other fun-seeking ice cream lovers and experience a day you’ll long remember. Some locations will show us how their ice cream is made and most others give samples of their flavors.

How many ice cream locations do we visit?
We average six-to-eight locations on each tour. Two-to-three of the stops will be at a location that sells regular food, coffee, etc. so you can get some balance to your diet for the day.

How long is the tour?
We typically spend at least six (6) hours traversing Long Island eating ice cream. You’re welcome to join us for only a portion of the tour — but keep in mind you might miss the best scoop of your life!

Do we have to wait in line for ice cream?
We work closely with each store to ensure they’re ready for our large group. They will schedule additional staff and provide extra tables for our group. By the time you make your scoop choice (there are some very tough decisions to make throughout the day), you’ll be at the front of any line!

Do you make your own ice cream?
We don’t manufacture ice cream. We eat it! All the stores we attend have been vetted to make their own ice cream. And it makes all the difference!

How can I get involved with the LIICT?
We’re always giddy to have more volunteers to help facilitate and document the tour. It takes over a month of work to prepare for each year’s tour. Email, tweet, or Facebook Message us. We’ll get you hooked up for the next tour!
