14th Annual Long Island Ice Cream Tours are Set to Share Long Island’s Best Ice Creams
- LIICT stops at only “homemade” ice cream shops
- Tours cover all of Long Island
- Each tour is a day of Fun, Sun, and Sweetness
LONG ISLAND, NY – JUNE 2024 – Long Island Ice Cream Tours (LIICT), now in its 14th year, will again this summer tour Long Island sampling the sweetness of fresh, homemade ice cream. There are three tours scheduled; LIICT South, LIICT West and LIICT East, covering their respective parts of Long Island. Each tour will include six to eight locally-owned ice cream shops and participants provide their own transportation throughout each tour. Each day lasts about seven hours, sampling from the shops on Long Island that make their ice cream on their premises.
Think of it as a bar crawl, but where no one ever got arrested from trying a lot of ice cream.
The first tour of summer 2024 will be LIICT South, which will be held on Saturday, June 29 at 2:00pm. Our caravan will traverse the south shore of Suffolk and Nassau Counties, where we will sample the sweet homemade ice cream of stores in those parts of Long Island. It begins at Ice Cream Cottage in Mastic Beach, and scheduled stops include Coyle’s Homemade Ice Cream (under new ownership), Frozen Cow Ices and Cream, Marvel Frozen Dairy (soft serve), Itgens’s Ice Cream Parlor (back on the tour), and International Delights Cafe of Bellmore (new to LIICT).
LIICT West will take place on Sunday, July 21 (National Ice Cream Day). It begins at 10:00am at LICS Ice Cream in Northport, and includes stops at Alkemy (made-to-order in front of us), Gelateria dei Colteli (old-world authentic gelato), Hildebrandt’s (another great place for ice cream and food), Smusht (an ice cream sandwich shop), and Sweet Treats by the Wharf (family-owned shop on the water in Port Washington).
The third tour of 2024, LIICT East, will be held on Saturday, August 10. Starting at 10:00am, the tour will travel and sample the creamy goodness at ice cream stores throughout Suffolk County. It begins at Snowflake Ice Cream Shoppe in Riverhead, and includes stops at McNulty’s Ice Cream Parlor (family-owned), Mia’s Ice Cream Kitchen (at its new location), Strong Island Ice Cream, Northport Sweet Shop (homemade ice cream at an old-fashioned luncheonette), and Henry’s Confectionery (homemade ice cream and a great luncheonette).
A ticket and registration are required for all participants for each tour (adults and children). We’ll be covering the events with pictures and video, from regular cameras and drones, and sharing them on our website.
“Since 2020, we’ve welcomed nearly 100 people joining us on each tour. This delicious trek across Long Island provides a fun way to meet friends, old and new, while sampling the area’s best homemade ice cream. A majority of the participants continue to attend year after year”, stated LIICT co-founder Jeff Noreman, of Port Jefferson, New York.
Registration includes an official LIICT tour shirt — which entitles participants to special discounts — and many of the shops offer special flavors or creations for the day. All shops on LIICT are locally-owned and create their ice cream on-premise. This unique event also helps the local economy by supporting fellow Long Island businesses and their families. In past years, this unique tour has been covered by local media including network broadcast news, and appeared in a variety of print media.
