12th Annual Long Island Ice Cream Tours are Ready to Sweeten Your Summer

• LIICT stops at only “homemade” ice cream shops
• Tours cover all of Long Island
• Each tour is a day of Fun, Sun, and Sweetness

LONG ISLAND, NY – JUNE 2022 – The Long Island Ice Cream Tours (LIICT), now in its 12th year, will again share the sweetness of fresh, homemade ice cream made on Long Island this summer. Continuing the practices we’ve held for the past two years, there are two tours scheduled: LIICT East and LIICT West. They cover their respective western and eastern parts of Long Island. Each tour will include six-to-eight locally-owned ice cream shops. Participants provide their own transportation throughout the tour and each tour lasts about seven hours as we sample from the shops on Long Island that make ice cream on their premises.

The first tour of Summer 2022, LIICT East, will be held on Saturday, July 9, 2022 beginning at 10:00 a.m. Tour participants will be able to enjoy the homemade ice cream at long-time favorites in Suffolk County like Snowflake Ice Cream Shoppe and McNulty’s, as well as newer stars like Mia’s Ice Cream Kitchen, Strong Island Ice Cream, and Ice Cream Social.

LIICT West will take place on Sunday, July 19, 2022 (National Ice Cream Day). The tour will travel and sample the creamy goodness at ice cream stores throughout Western Suffolk and Nassau County. It begins at Old Fashioned Ice Cream Shoppe in West Babylon, and includes stops at LICS, Ice Cream Chick, and Sweet Treats on the Wharf. That tour begins at 11:00 a.m.

Both tours last until late afternoon each day. A ticket and registration are required for all participants (adults and children).

“Despite the challenges of the global pandemic, 2021 was another banner year for LIICT. Due to its overwhelming popularity, we welcomed nearly 100 people joining us on each tour. This delicious trek across Long Island provides a fun way to meet friends — old and new — while sampling the area’s best homemade ice cream. A majority of the participants continue to attend year after year”, stated LIICT co-founder Jeff Noreman, of Old Bethpage, New York.

Registration includes an official LIICT tour shirt, which entitles participants to special discounts, and many of the shops offer special flavors or creations for the day. All shops on LIICT are locally-owned and create ice cream on-premises. This unique event also helps the local economy by supporting fellow Long Island businesses and their families. In past years, this unique tour has been covered by local TV programs, network broadcast news, and appeared in a variety of print media.

LIICT’s legacy has included stops at Hildebrandt’s, Five Pennies Creamery, Henry’s Confectionery, Sweet Treats on The Wharf, Frozen Cow Ice and Cream, Marvel Frozen Dairy. Snowflake Ice Cream Shoppe, Ice Cream Cottage, McNulty’s, Strong Island Ice Cream, Coyle’s Homemade Ice Cream, Northport Sweet Shop, LICS, and Old Fashioned Ice Cream Shoppe
